Florence offers plenty of parks and recreational opportunities, including city parks, a public pool, river access, play areas, and quiet mountain trails. Here's where to find them.

Soccer fields, walking trails, a fishing pond, an event pavilion, an arena, and a boat ramp for river access.
E 8th St, East of Florence
A quiet riverside park with a Whitewater Play Park — a surfable wave and an easy eddy. Popular for fishing, swimming, tubing and kayaking.
End of Hwy 15, South of Florence
A green escape at the end of a gravel road, with an amphitheater, campsites and the trailhead for Newlin Creek Trail.
County Rd 129, West of 115, Penrose
A secluded flat-water lake for fishing, kayaking or a beach day. Boat ramp to the left on entry; restroom and beach access to the right. Water level varies with rainfall.
5th & Robin, Florence
A small neighborhood park with a playground, kids' climbing wall, swings and a basketball court.
5th & Gumaer St, Florence
Two baseball fields, just around the corner from Lions Park. Reservations required — call City Hall at 719-784-4848.
Kayak, raft, canoe or tube the Arkansas River from Pathfinder Park to Florence River Park — a mild float with a few small rapids and a whitewater play park waiting at the finish. From Pathfinder Regional Park, follow the signs for the fishing pond and boat ramp down to the river past the roundabout; the boat ramp and parking lot sit at the end of the gravel road.
Take-out is at Florence River Park.
The Florence Pool, located in Pioneer Park, has a climbing wall, adult swim times and diving boards — a great way to cool off in the summer.
Over 1,100 routes across Fremont County, rarely crowded.
Rarely-busy trails ~8 miles west of Florence, near Cñon City. Bring water and basic tools.
Trails surround the area; several mountain bike trails above double as hiking routes. Rarely busy — check trip reports before you go.
Two courses nearby: Sumo Golf Village in Florence off Hwy 67, and 4 Mile Ranch Golf Club near Cñon City off Hwy 50.
